Join the Special Projects Team!! We’re a group of dedicated individuals who acts as internal consultants to NAAAP Toronto, with a long-term strategic mindset. On a project basis, we research, analyze, and develop recommendations to the board. Various committees / directors will then implement our tactical recommendations, and move NAAAP Toronto towards its strategic goals.

Tasks (depending on project)

  • Collect & analyze data
  • Investigate into cause of certain phenomenon
  • Develop solution for sub-committees/directors to implement
  • Organize & present information in succinct manner

Skills

  • Willingness to learn
  • Self-motivated
  • Curious / investigative
  • Analytical skills
  • Interpersonal skills

Commitments

  • Weekly time commitment: 1-5 hours/week
  • Mandatory: Attend monthly Special Projects team meetings (could be conference call)
  • Optional: Attend monthly board meeting and NAAAP Toronto event

The marketing team is looking to fill the role of Social Media Coordinator to help develop NAAAP Toronto's online presence through the use of social media outlets. Strategic minded marketers are desired to research and deliver content relating to upcoming NAAAP Toronto events. Those with a finger on the pulse of Asian professional and social issues in and around the GTA are welcome to apply.

Role

  • Attend and understand upcoming NAAAP Toronto events
  • Develop and deliver overall social media strategy
  • Promote NAAAP Toronto through strategic use of twitter/blogging/facebook/linkedin/etc...

Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational/planning skill and attention to detail
  • Experience in promotions would be preferred

Commitments

  • Weekly time commitment: 1-5 hours/week
  • Optional: Attend monthly board meeting and NAAAP Toronto event

Need volunteers who are design students who are looking to grow as a designer and being mentored by Siew Ling Chow, the director of creative design at NAAAP Toronto

Tasks

Extending NAAAP Toronto brand by developing concept driven theme designs for events, mixers and carrying it through in promotional material in print and web media.

Skills

Creative: Art Direction, Typography, Design for web and print

Technical: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign CS3 – 4, preferably PC users

Screening/Commitments

  • candidate’s portfolio will be reviewed
  • all correspondences will be done over email
  • would like the candidate to appear at the NAAAP Board meetings
  • there is always an event every month and some events like Little Asia and Gala are campaigns and require full commitment
  • candidate has to be a committed, self-motivated individual who is able promptly deliver the project with a strong design workmanship

Need volunteers who are interested in maintaining the NAAAP Toronto website and other mini sites.

Tasks

To maintain the NAAAP Toronto site and an opportunity to grow and learn how to utilize a DotNetNuke system, develope custom skin and fully utilize the communication possibilities under the supervision of the director of Web Technologies.

Skills

Soft Skill: Strong written communication, organization, and a sense of responsibility

Technical: Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML, CSS, SQL Queries

Screening/Commitments

  • prospective candidate needs to illustrate technical skills in HTML and CSS with samples of work or sample codes
  • is interested in taking ownership of this role and interacting with other director and committee members to complete tasks
  • update the website’s event, eNews Digest page
  • must be able to appear at NAAAP Toronto Board Meeting

Role: Writer/Editor

  • edit/write copies for various events
  • the volunteer will be working actively with the Creative Design and Web Technologies and other committee members to develop ideas for articles on RedQuarterly

Role: Camera Person

  • document NAAAP Toronto Events, edit and export it for use on our website
  • work very closely with Director of Creative Design and Web Technologies to produce campaign ideas and executing it

Role: Photographer

  • shaping the image of NAAAP Toronto Events by photographing to document the events for use on campaigns

Role: Video Editor

  • taking raw footage and edit it for web use

Be part of the Finance Team and develop skills that will be transferable for both your work and personal life. The Finance group budgets for the organization’s planned activities and reviews the financial results. We work together with the other NAAAP Toronto committees to build useful information for the whole team.

Tasks

  • Prepare annual financial statements
  • Present financial and statistical reports for our monthly events
  • Participate in the planning for signature events

Skills

  • Basic experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Commitments

  • Attend monthly finance team meetings
  • Attend monthly board meetings and mixer events when possible
  • Participate in a team effort to draft monthly financial reports
