Michael Masangkay is the rebirth of swagger. Since his first taste of applause after being accidentally thrust into the spotlight on the stage of Massey Hall, Masangkay has been captivating audiences with his engaging stage charm and his keen sense to seize the moment and make it his own. His style and voice have taken him on quite a journey from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean, from the southern-most tip of Argentina up the coasts to Brazil and Chile all the way up to the NorthWest Territories of Canada to the snowcapped mountains of the Alps outside of Venice, Italy. It has been 20 years now since he started singing as a choirboy at St. Michael’s Choir School and being the feature psalmist on Vision TV’s Daily Mass. To this date he has now been a lead singer and master of ceremonies on the Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise Lines to a lounge singer for the Toronto All Star Big Band to reprising the role of the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera for the Taste of Broadway even to being a soloist for the University of Toronto Gospel Choir. All this has helped to form and develop Masangkay’s cool charming stage swagger that has since seen him sing/host for such influential and celebrity figures as Pope John Paul II, Former Prime Minister Jean Chretien, Regis Philbin of the Regis & Kelly Show, the 92-93 World Champion Toronto Blue Jays and Former President Ramos of the Philippines.

Asiansploitation began in 2003 when Gary Chan, Jeff B Santos and Glenn Gabriel met at the Bad Dog Theatre. It’s here while taking classes and performing together they met other improvisers and actors with similar geographic and cultural origins who shared their passion for comedy.

With improvisation, sketch and standup comedy, their first show, BE PACIFIC(2006), launched what would be five years of comedy on various sold-out Toronto stages. Asiansploitation is excited to be accepted into the Toronto 2010 Fringe Festival from June 30 to July 11. If you haven’t seen us before, 2010 will be the year to come see us on stage in a show you won’t want to miss.

Chad Zhou is a young and inspiring magician. His style of close-up magic involving the use of cards, coins, and daily objects in addition to stage wide manipulation of candle, roses and fire. Over the years, he has given his vibrant performances for various corporate events, banquets, parties in Canada as well as China. Chad has also performed for various celebrities, such as the televised performance for Jay Chou`s movie premiere event of `Secrets`. You would not want to miss his memorable shows.

In the spring of 2008 Gregory Vitale began recording his CD with producer Jeff Martin (Tea Party). The cd was recorded at Jeff's studio Kingdom Studios in Durrus, County Cork, Ireland. Gregory co-wrote the songs with longtime friend and guitarist Simon Jones along with Jeff who also played bass, lead guitars and keyboards. Drummer and Ireland native Wally Walden who also contributed to the recording sessions subsequently moved to Canada to be the backbeat of FLOWERCHILD. Kyle Texeira rounds out the rhythm section on bass guitar and Yurko Mychaluk on lead guitar. After several trips 'across the pond' to finish the recording in Ireland, Jeff suggested mixing the CD in Australia. They went to Studio 301 in Byron Bay, New South Wales to mix in the fall of 2009 and the debut cd is scheduled for release in the summer of 2010. Gregory's last band Likota Son, and the single "Try", was well received at Canadian radio and stayed in the top 20 for four months. Flowerchild is currently in rehearsals for their upcoming shows during Canadian Music Festival in Toronto and in support of their debut release "Pleasantly Cursed".

What we do is really quite unique. We start with a very catchy or memorable melody (referred to as the "chorus" or "hook"). We preface this "chorus" with somewhat more subdued melodic passages we call "verses". Oftentimes a "pre chorus" will be inserted between the two, for added emphasis of the "chorus". A "bridge" frequently precedes the final "chorus" for increased impact. Accompanying word groupings we call "lyrics" tend to provide some personal revelation, and usually retain some semblance of a "theme" from start to finish. We think this formula could be the start of something great."

IWTA Canada also started this year of Tiger in a energetic way, which we had historical high frequency of demonstration. Their music has appeared on radio worldwide, and they have performed across Canada, on television, in clubs, theatres and festivals, sharing the stage with the likes of Chantal Kreviazuk, Jim Cuddy, Sarah Harmer, Lisa Brokop and Corb Lund. Now they are combining their talents to make the musical element of your event shine with golden harmonies and delicate guitar interplay.

Established 12 years ago, Northern Legs, Southern Fists currently has over 100 members. The General Manager/Chief Instructor, Ian Chow, is a familiar face in the community as his troupe has performed Lion and Dragon dances at numerous community festivals and celebrations. Their mission is to preserve and promote the traditional art of Dragon and Lion dancing especially among the youths in Toronto.

Northern Legs, Southern Fists with Ian Chow has been an active sponsor, performance and valued community partner since the launch of Little Asia. With their help, NAAAP Toronto and the Mon Sheong Foundation laid the foundation of a winning team towards attaining 1st place honours for the best Neighbourhood Cheering & Entertainment Centre in 2006 and 2007. This successful partnership continues to today as you will get to experience a Lion Dance exhibition like no other at Little Asia 2008.

MASIA ONE is true to her name sake - the first female to be nominated for a Much Music Video Award (Rap), winner of the Chinese Canadian National Council PIONEER accolade and constantly redefining the sound and cultural boundaries of Hip hop music. Born in Singapore, Masia One became an early fan of Hip Hop after stumbling upon a bootleg copy of Public Enemy’s It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back at the age of 8.
